I am looking to get my first helmet and am looking for either a MICH, PASGT, or IBH helmet. Can you guys give me a pro/con of each helmet and which you would prefer/buy if you were making the decision? It would be greatly appreciated. Also it is my understanding that night vision mounts have to be self installed on the helmet, please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

The Pasgt is the oldest model, and can be considered outdated, it is being phased out of the military to a point where it is used mostly by national guard and reserve units, though the Marine Corps still use it because they are always stuck with outdated equipment.
The MICH 2000 (or ACH) was created to improve upon all failures of the PASGT. It weighs less, does not have a rim over the front, the rear rim is cut down to allow better hearing from the soldier and better fit communications headsets, and the suspension system prevents the helmet from bobbing as the soldier moves his head. It is the current helmet of Active US ARMY combat personnel and many special operations forces including rangers, seals, green berets, among others
The IBH is a helmet that is designed around communications. The large gaps in the sides enable operators to wear larger communications headsets.
IMO, The MICH is the way to go as the pasgt functionally is not as good and unless you have a large headset the IBH's gaps won't protect your ears or the side of your head at all. But if you want a real helmet (not just a replica) then go with a pasgt as they are the cheapest. I own a real MICH, it cost me about $240 USED and I'm sure an IBH would be similarly expensive.
